17 September 2024

We are pleased to announce Sharan Burrow AC and Cameron Garnsworthy will join SEC’s board of directors on October 1, together bringing a wealth of experience in renewable energy development, climate action and advocacy, investment, financing and workforce development.

Sharan and Cameron

Sharan is a global advocate for human rights, climate action and a just transition, and is well known for her work championing labour standards, corporate responsibility and investment in infrastructure and the green economy.

As a former General Secretary of the International Trade Union Confederation and President of the Australian Council of Trade Unions, she has represented workers and civil society groups in global policy discussions in United Nations bodies, the International Labour Organisation, and the tables of the G7, G20, World Bank and International Monetary Fund.  She has twice been a co-chair of the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Davos.

Cameron has more than 20 years’ experience in renewable energy, having led the development, structuring, sale, construction and operation of more than 30 solar, wind and battery storage projects across Australia, Germany and Italy.

Cameron is also the Managing Director of SunCable Australia, which is pioneering the world's first intercontinental renewable power grid. He was previously Managing Director of JUWI Renewable Energy, a global leader in the development, construction and operational management of hybrid wind, solar and battery solutions. He has previously served on the board of the Clean Energy Council.

Chaired by renewable energy industry leader Simon Corbell, the SEC board oversees the SEC’s work across its three activity pillars: investing in renewable generation and storage to accelerate Victoria’s energy transition, supporting the switch to all-electric homes, and building a renewable energy workforce.

“Cameron and Sharan’s experience will be a strong addition to the board as the SEC advances its work investing in renewable energy generation and storage assets, supporting the switch to all-electric homes, and building the renewable energy workforce required to accelerate Victoria’s energy transition,” said Simon.

Sharan and Cameron join existing board directors Joycelyn Morton, Anna Skarbek, Jo Benvenuti and Damien Barnes.
