The Bill enshrines the SEC’s mandate and objectives into the State’s Constitution, ensuring the SEC continues to deliver for all Victorians.

“The SEC is investing in the projects Victoria needs; on behalf of all Victorians,” said the SEC’s Chief Executive Officer, Chris Miller.

“Legislation passed by the Victorian Parliament today ensures that the SEC will remain publicly owned and continue to support Victoria's energy transition.”

The SEC is investing an initial $1 billion towards adding 4.5 gigawatts of new renewable energy generation and storage. It is also supporting households to go electric and save money on their energy bills and helping build the renewables workforce needed to drive the transition.

“The work we are doing is helping accelerate the energy transition and creating new opportunities as we build a healthier, more affordable and more reliable energy system.”
