GreenPoint Energy and SEC are pleased to announce the successful recipients of the 2026 Melbourne Renewable Energy Hub (MREH) Community Benefit Fund, which will support local initiatives that create lasting benefits for communities across Melton and surrounding areas.

Designed in response to community feedback, the MREH Community Benefit Fund invests $100,000 annually in community-led programs and projects through two funding streams:
- Youth Futures Partnership Grant, which allocates the majority of the annual funds ($75,000) towards longer term initiatives that support young people through education, skills development and mentorship.
- Safe and Sustainable Community Grants, which allocates $25,000 as smaller community grants to local non-profits, registered charities and community clubs to support initiatives that strengthen community connection, participation and sustainability.
This year's funding round attracted strong interest from local organisations, with applications demonstrating the strength of community leadership and commitment across Melbourne's west.
The successful recipient of the 2026 Youth Futures Partnership Grant, Future Connect – School to Work Program, will use the grant to strengthen and scale its existing school-to-industry engagement work for young people in Melton.
A total of 4 organisations were awarded Safe and Sustainable Community Grants, including the Royal Flying Doctor Service Victoria, Eynesbury Eagles Cricket Club, Melton Hockey Club and Sunbury Softball Association.
Lane Crockett, SEC’s Executive General Manager, Assets said the Community Benefit Fund was established to ensure local communities share the long-term benefits of hosting major renewable energy infrastructure.
"The Melbourne Renewable Energy Hub is helping to strengthen Victoria's energy system, while also creating opportunities for local communities.
"These grants will support organisations that are making a meaningful difference through education, participation, community connection and opportunities for young people," said Mr Crockett.
Roby Camagong, Managing Director and Co−CEO of GreenPoint Energy, said the successful projects demonstrate the value of investing in trusted local organisations.
"The insights provided by community members helped shape this fund and ensure it responds to local needs.
"We look forward to seeing these organisations deliver programs that strengthen community connections and create positive outcomes for local residents," said Mr Camagong.
GreenPoint Energy and SEC thank all applicants and community members that contributed to the program's success.
