Community benefit fund opens for the SEC Delburn Wind Farm

Community groups and not-for-profit organisations across Latrobe City, Baw Baw Shire and South Gippsland Shire can now apply for a share of $150,000 through the SEC Delburn Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund.

Established as part of SEC's Delburn Wind Farm project, the fund supports community-led initiatives that deliver lasting local benefits, strengthen social connections, improve wellbeing and contribute to long-term regional development.

The funding is now open, with eligible organisations encouraged to apply for projects that make a positive difference.

SEC Chief Executive Officer Chris Miller said the Community Benefit Fund reflects SEC's commitment to ensuring local communities share in the benefits of Victoria's renewable energy transition.

"The SEC Delburn Wind Farm will not only help deliver more renewable energy for Victorians, the project is creating opportunities and benefits for local communities.

"The Community Benefit Fund will support local organisations and projects that matter to the people who live, work and raise families in the region," said Mr Miller.

Applicants can apply for one-off grants of up to $25,000 to support eligible projects.

The fund is designed to complement the long-term economic and employment opportunities associated with the SEC Delburn Wind Farm and help deliver lasting community outcomes.

Projects eligible for funding may include initiatives that support community wellbeing, environmental outcomes, recreation, cultural activities, and the development of local skills, knowledge and community capability.

Applications will be assessed against a range of criteria, including community benefit, alignment with local priorities and the project's ability to deliver meaningful outcomes.

"Strong communities are central to Victoria's energy future.

"This fund is an opportunity to invest in local ideas and initiatives that will create lasting value for the communities hosting renewable energy infrastructure,” said Mr Miller.

Applications for the SEC Delburn Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund are open from 18 September and close on 30 October.
